something about christmas trees and home cooked meals. my mother's hug, and grammy's laughter. about my sister crying and double gifts. something about eating too much, and talking about the years past and who is missing. chuckling about presents and games and grab bags. and the documentation. my goodness, the documentation. almost everyone had a camera, some had two, and the pictures never stopped. one flash after the next. some digital, some black and white, others just 400 speed color. the need to document. the need to mark the moment and save it in a photo album, or a disc. in some ways, photos are the only memories that i have of certain events. they become the memory. they also tend to edit out so much. 'smile!'
