ice skating.

it is like riding a bike. once you learn how to do it, you can recall the movements and motor skills necessary to keep from falling.

it was rather scary this evening; from walking into the cold rink, to putting on the rental skates, then walking over to the entrance to the frozen arena. my careful step out onto the icy floor was one of uncertainty, excitement and caution. all i could recall was watching some random doubles routine on espn for some winter games special on ice. and it came to me... the triple sow cow (i don't even know if thats how you spell it, i have only heard it on tv). yes, the movements... the grace of professionals.

i think people learn a lot from just observing others. trying to mimic certain actions, reactions, movements. like skateboarders, for example, every skater and even non-skaters will mention some video that completely inspired them, they will say, "that was so cool when -insert any pro skater here- did that varial heelflip over that huge gap..." but really, it instills a certain drive, to strive further, try harder, be more than what they are.

needless to say, we were at the rink for a closed session birthday party with a keg of beer. yes, let your imagination go with that... things started to get messy...
