instead of self loathing this evening, i think i would like to share a few stories about my coworker and friend bond or booond as we call him on the AIM. i have been staying at my sisters for just about 2 weeks now, and one of the primary reasons is that my coworker can pick me up and take me back to the house at the end of our day. he and i both work insane hours and share the mutual beatup feeling at the end of the day.
he arrives promptly at seven thirty in his black camery, and we hit the one oh one south. he is a careful driver on the freeway and brakes with plenty of distance. though stop signs seem to always sneak up on him. sometimes he doesn't check his blind spot when changing lanes, and i catch myself trying not to. we chat about work when things fall silent or when we are in very close proximity of arriving or departing the office. but other times, we mostly chat about life. stories of the past. places we have been, food we have eaten, hobbies we have, old relationships, family... east coast snow, aimsbury lake, neighbors playing bacamon until early hours of the morning, and neighbors fighting in the early hours of the morning. about walking and doctors and drugs and school and children. and music. lots of music. he was playing alice in chains this morning. the cd is always on track two when he picks me up. i didn't realize they didn't find the body of the singer in that band until a month later after a heroin overdose. my mornings and evenings with him have been one's that could just be taken for granted. though i have enjoyed his stories and i think he has enjoyed mine.
weird thing is this broken foot. i have had so many conversations with people i would never normally have. my life has slowed in pace (as my horoscope suggested today) and i feel as if in some weird way, things happen for a reason. and this event has taken place for more than one reason. i am grateful.
