scenario:

went bowling at the hollywood star bowling lanes last night. this is your typical bowling alley, but its just sick, and i don't know why we go there. every time we do, the only bowling balls available are 18 pounds and the ones that are 6 pounds (and red in color)have finger holes that are made for a 9 month old child... testing finger holes out on bowling balls is so fucking weird! Really. You have to be so cautious. Your fingers could get stuck and a certain panic starts to overcome you if you stick your thumb in a hole that is too small. ick! and all the fingers that came before... uhh, don't even think about it.

anyhow, we were assigned lane 32... the 5 of us put on those sick rental shoes... all stretched out and too wide... resoled, probably for the 3rd time, so instead of a nice slide on the wood floor, there is a slight stick right before you release the ball down the lane, in turn, messing up your whole momentum.

so yes, we started off the game, coronas in hand... not two frames into the game, MR. XX (literally, his name on the screen was XX)shows up in lane 31. You know this guy, he has all his stuff, shiny navy blue marbled ball perfectly fitted to his hand, pristine maroon and white bowling shoes... wrist support and of course the towel (to wipe the ball off). he is balding, he is professional.

he showed up, and i looked at my sister, she suddenly wasn't bowling well, and she told me, "its him... he is ruining me..." the guy was bowling strike after strike... talk about intimidating. we probably had a total of 4 strikes out of 2 games of 5 bowlers... heh.

well, i am happy to report the first game i bowled 128 and the second, 85. the beer seemed to catch up to the concentration level in the second game. the funny thing is that, unlike my sister, i tended to bowl better with MR. XX next door. it must be my competitive nature.

btw: saw the faint tonight, i finally got that damn cd. it is very fun, they are very fun and they are from omaha nebraska...
