you most likely already know, but the interesting thing here is that music on certain radio stations is being censored by big business in the name of respect!?!

this is all i have to say on the issue because i know you are well informed about this situation.

This is absolutely ridiculous. Though this is not a government issued censorship... it is a "suggestive censorship" by big business bureaucracy. Considering we, essentially vote with our purchases, I find "suggestive action" very close to governmental policy making trends.

Terrorism will reign if we react fearfully to it and allow it to take away our civil liberties; this is its goal. Everything that America is targeted for, i.e.: freedom of speech, religion, democracy, capitalism, et al, should not be threatened by terrorism. By censoring these particular songs, 'they' (whoever you want 'they' to be... big business monopolies, government, terrorists...)are silencing our voices. Terrorism will continually gain momentum if we give up our freedoms in the name of fear.

Who is to judge what is "un-American" art and music? How can you put that label on it? Does anyone remember the House of Un-American Activities Committee? If you don't, read up.

my foot is in my mouth... but just the same... i guess this is the official statement...

Clear Channel Radio has not banned any songs from any of its radio stations. In the wake of this terrible tragedy, the nations business community is responding with a degree of hypersensitivity, explained Mark P. Mays, President and Chief Operating Officer of Clear Channel. Even some movie companies have altered some of their release schedules in light of the mood in America today. Clear Channel strongly believes in the First Amendment and freedom of speech. We value and support the artist community. And we support our radio station programming staff and management team in their responsibility to respond to their local markets.
